Emerging from my cocoon of blankets and clothes on Sunday morning, I could feel the cruel and unforgiving tendrils of hangover wrapping themselves around my soul and physical being. Sleep had been interrupted by a vindictive air conditioner at head height blasting out an Arctic breeze across my ears, and the near impossible mission of trying to silently clamber down from my ladder-less bunk bed without waking any roommates for an early morning toilet trip. Ninh Binh had been a beautiful escape from teaching in Hanoi, incredible views, clear air, and no screeching children repeatedly hitting me on the bum (why do they do that??) while I attempt to make them remember the difference between duck, dog and doll... read on
